Horse Trailer Tow Question

Had a few mares at a friend's farm in Middleburg a beautiful and lovely place!
I know what you mean about women & horses, there is a saying to describe a spoiled horse and that's "it's a woman's horse" it doesn't apply universally as there are some very knowledgeable horsewomen, as there is a term Horse people & Horsey people ;)
Yep! Middleburg was the area! Really a wonderful part of VA. Not a lot of places left like it.

Oh, if the Ram has active sway control/trailer sway control leave it on/enable it. In the Fords I've towed with that have had it, it was actually astoundingly effective at correcting/controlling trailer sway.

It's still not a replacement for something like a sway control kit/weight distributing hitch but it helps some.

Since meeting my wife, we have worked our azz's off to lose money at horses. If we didn't work so hard, we would still lose money. But seriously, our two daughters are into it now. I just plan to work until I'm 103 for sure and then hopefully die. I always say that one should rather spend your time and money at the casino because at least you have a chance at getting your money back. But I wouldn't t change a thing.

I cannot comment on the build quality of that trailer but it should tow just fine. Some bumper pulls get a bit long at rhe tongue and squat a half ton pretty bad but with the new truck it should be just fine. I wouldn't worry about any additional truck upgrades.

They need a tire changing ramp out of some 2x6 planks. I will snag a picture of ours later.

Biggest things I can note about our old 5 horse trailswest and why we still have it; thick rubber mats on the floor and walls and very strong steel dividers with slam latches. Sure its a different style being a gooseneck but she pulls like a dream.

Without rubber mats on the wall, one crazy horse can dent the walls, damage the trailer and hurt themselves. You would be surprised at the amount of sway one crazy animal can cause in a 5800 pound steel trailer and 8000 pound truck.

A Weigh Safe hitch to make sure tongue weight is good.

Weight distribution hitch would be the safest idea, but that truck is probably enough to keep it from swaying if the tongue weight is right. I assume they designed the trailer to put the horses in the best spot to give it proper tongue weight but you dont know without a scale.
