Horizontal bladder type water tank freezing?

I have to replace an old galvanized water well pressure tank at my cottage as it sprung a leak. I could drain it at the end of the season easily as it has a valve on the bottom but the new style horizontal bladder tanks to not have any ports at the bottom and I'm unfamiliar with this tank. Does anyone know if the bladder forces all of the water out of the tank when you drain it so it will not be damaged by freezing? This is the horizontal style such as this.....

My experience with bladder tanks is that if the bladder leaks or ruptures, a new tank is needed.

the bladder will have enough pressure to force most of the water out. What is left will be in a thin layer and freezing will not hurt it.

Temperature changes can cause some additional water to flow, you have to make sure that any extra water can drain.

Just called the manufacturer and ragtoplvr is correct. I still prefer the old galvanized pressure tank but they are proving difficult to get.

My well water would rust out a galvy tank in 10 yrs or less. Have a vertical tank with a bladder now. So far so good.

i recently replaced my girlfriends vertical pressure tank + since the connection is on the very bottom it would prolly do better, just a little repiping + you should be good!!

When I lived where a well was my water source I used the vertical bladder tanks. I ended up replacing it twice during the 25 years I lived there. The bladder would rupture and that was the only recourse according to the well guys. Keep the tank in a insulated room or enclosure is imperative. Ice will puncture the bladder.

Having the output on the bottom is great to help flush the tank periodically of buildup of sediment. We had a iron filter on our installation to keep that manageable.

I would certainly go with a bladder tank over the older compressor types.

I didn't really think about sediment until Pim Tac mentioned it [thank you] and this system draws right from the lake so it is a big concern. Looks like I have to go for a vertical Bladder style tank and a little extra piping. This should be better for both freezing and sediment.
