Vented Gas Cans Can Now Be Sold

I thumbed my nose at the EPA years ago and made my own functional "spill-proof" gas cans with a drill bit and these vent caps.

Too bad Ozzy, the Hulkster, Malcolm and Chuck won't be around to see that link in our government's plan to enslave us be broken.

Yes, those quarter-turn-and-push-down-hard plastic safety nozzles were quite bad.
I've seen many people spill fuel attempting to use them.
Well, I don’t agree with the unfiltered use of “junk” here - but yeah …

I don't know why you guys get your undies in such a twist? All my cans use the Midwest Can spout, except for one, a lever vented safety style can I found on the side of the road - a $170 dollar value!!! I never spill fuel, they fill adequately fast for OPE and most importantly they keep the vapors and assorted light ends in the can so my fuel keeps just fine.

Now admittedly if I were fueling all the tanks contents often and/or fueling my vehicles then I would probably seek a different design.

Did you guys read the news release in the link? It says that vented gas cans have been allowed since 2009 as long as they are automatically closing. It says the EPA reminded manufactures of this. That is all.

Or am I missing something?

I just buy the kits to refit my gas can, they sell that at Menards right next to the cans. Drill a hole for the vent, push in the vent, throw away just junk spout and swap to the good ones with a simple cap on them. Be nice if we could go back to not having to buy a $10 kit to make a gas can work properly again. EPA isn't going to stop me from having properly working gas cans with their nonsense orders.

I saw a YouTube video recently where a guy showed how to install an aftermarket kit to convert the new style into the old.

Very nice. The EPA cans were a complete scam.. The Obama era cans were allowed to be sold on the same shelf as the retro kits. I can’t think of any other time this has legally happened.
