The rear/main engine mount at the firewell on Civic I have moves about 1 inch or more during throttling at idle with the hood open. The side one's move slightly. Is this normal engine mount/transmission mount operation? I get a 'clunk like' feel at times on the highway when I shift gears(feels like the engine is rocking for a moment?) or when I come off of the accelerator, it happens at times then, too.

One other thing to check (if your car uses 'em): the rubber harmonic balancers on the drive shafts to the wheels.

rotating tires does not mean you dont need to balance the tires.
wheel balance issue is likely the problem for vibration at high speeds. Also, if your tires are not evenly worn, that can also be causing it. If you dont have OEM axles, that can also be it, but vibration while moving is almost always a tire issue.

If you're going to balance your tires make sure the place uses a Hunter GSP9700.
