Will the GCV 170 have the same bolt pattern and swap with my GCV 160 thats getting a bit tired?

If it's a mower engine and not a pressure washer engine, yes.

I'm pretty sure all Honda mower engines are 1" (25mm) dia and 3-5/32nd (80.3mm) length keyed crankshafts. Pressure washer engines have heavier flywheels and usually have different crankshafts.

The mass of the blade on a mower has a significant flywheel effect. (Of course, this is only true when the blade always turns with the engine, i.e. no blade clutch) The flywheel on the top of an engine designed for a mower is too light by itself for the engine to run.

This means that a mower engine is not suitable for non-mower application but the reverse is not true, you could use a heavy flywheel engine on a mower.

Someone above said 1 inch is the same as 25 mm. This is not correct. 1 inch is 25.4 mm. Both are standard small engine shaft sizes but the blade adapters for them will not interchange.
