Honda paywalls garage door opener

So Honda is jumping in the subscription game with it's garage door opener. I wonder when the buying public will start to revolt with foolishness like this.

Honda paywalls built-in garage door openers with a monthly subscription
They won't. They will just use clickers. It is the dumbest thing. I mean, if they want to enter the subscription game, there are so many other things they could get money from: cooled seats, heated seats, etc. But this?
I mean I use clickers in all three cars, and they all have integrated garage openers to be set up for free, obviously.
So, I really don't get it. Desperation?

No one will pay this. Everyone with a garage door opener has one of these...

I hope we don't break our rear view mirror on the 2025 Pilot. Our still has the buttons, but every day I think about shoulda-woulda bought something old.

I would note that the subscription fee is to use the Smart App, for a wifi connected garage door.

The car lacks the traditional HomeLink setup. You need to buy a (optional) rear view mirror if you want that feature put back in.

I don't like my garage door openers on wifi anyway.
But I already have an app on my phone that controls the alarm system, and among other things, the garage door. I would say all wi-fi systems have some app. So, why pay Honda to use theirs?

All these home items connected to the internet may be more convenient sometimes, but it makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. What happens when there's a power outage, my toilet quit working? ALSO it opens your personal items to possible hackers.

I wish my outback didnt have a built in opener..
you can use it at all times don't even need a key.
only one I've ever heard of wired like that.

So you leave it parked outside.. smash window and open garage.. ugh.

I refuse to ever pay for any of these subscriptions that do not add any real value or ask me to pay monthly for something I already bought with the vehicle.

I do. I have ours programmed to close after I leave for work (wife leaves earlier than me) just in case I forget. It's happened once, but there's an unlocked door in the garage straight into our house. Also have it set to close at night in case we've left it open.

No, it doesn't. You realize these things all still work the old-fashioned way ? The internet connectivity is just add'l to them. Our refrigerator and oven have Wi-Fi-capability and apps, but neither are set up and guess what ? We can still use the fridge and oven just fine....

So, the same as a visor clip-on opener?
a built in 200$ option that everyone else has powered not always on.
are you defending the idiocy of Subaru's design choice?
or playing devil's advocate?

We don't even leave an opener in the 2020 Elantra parked in the driveway.

If I leave my car parked out with a trailer hooked up etc.. I find their choice to have it
always powered 100% of the time ... uh.. Sad. (bitog safe choice of words):ROFLMAO:
