I was tempted to leave it on since Honda says replace every other oil change, but my gut told me to change it.Yeah, they're not very good. Ick
Good choice. Look into Carquest Premium filters. It's all I've been using on my Hondas for the past year. The truck gets ChampXL until that stash runs out and then probably CQP as well.I was tempted to leave it on since Honda says replace every other oil change, but my gut told me to change it.
I'm still using the Honda A02. Not because I think it's a superior filter but because everything else is such a crapshoot these days and I have a genuine Honda filter wrench that fits them so well. On my 5th Honda now.I've used a bazillion Honda Frams
Look for the Honda Part # 15400-RTA-003I'm still using the Honda A02. Not because I think it's a superior filter but because everything else is such a crapshoot these days and I have a genuine Honda filter wrench that fits them so well. On my 5th Honda now.
There's no "feelings" about this, it's 100% accurate (except for the S2000 at some point). 20+ years ago, they were standardized on (using Fram #) 3593 and moved to the 7317 equivalent. Dealers probably order/receive oil filters by the pallet because of this standardization.I feel like most every Honda engine uses the 7317 equivalent filter intentionally.
That media could have blown-out during use. No way to tell for sure. That should have been caught before they assembled the filter. Ugh.
Unsure if the actual specs are the same but it's basically a Fram Extra Guard, which I think they label filtration like 95% @ whatever, so yes, it is way more efficient.^^^ The Mobil 1, even being 99% @ 30u is probably still more efficient than the Honda OEM filter.
That should have been caught before they assembled the filter. Ugh.
