Honda Introduces Battery Mowers

I'm surprised it took them so long :sneaky:

Honda has been selling electric mowers in other countries for a few years now, and the Honda name sells itself.

I'm all for electric if it doesn't require umpteen batteries and changing them constantly. I mow my yard and my in laws' yard (next door) every week, which takes ~5 hours total. I don't think current battery tech is up to that challenge.

How big is the yard?

Some of the electric riding mowers can do 2 acres per charge, while most of them claim 1 acre per charge.

And if your yard is bigger than that, you really want electric, even if you need to buy a second battery and keep recharging, because they are much quieter than gas, and it's still better than dealing with that noise for hours with a gas mower :D

Maybe one day I will go electric, time will tell, but no need in the near future. The noise doesn't bother me because I listen to music on my wireless earbuds while I mow. I SAID THE NOISE DOESN'T BOT........

Nice mowers but a bit pricey. I will buy one on sale.

My GreenWorks mower is OK with two 4A batteries to mow a half acre.
I have that mower. 80V 4A x 2. Bought when Costco sold them with 4 yr warranty with 8 year batteries warranty. 2+ years ago, faultless. No longer offered with extended battery warranty. $500, now higher.

Sold my 30 year old Honda HR215 to next door landscape guy for $350. My instant price, probably would have paid more. 15 second demo for self propel. He couldn't whip out his wallet fast enough. What mower guy carries around $1500 cash, looked like ??

Drives nice big Toyota PU, 3 man crew. Only one who speaks English. Fast workers but not for me.

How about the neighbors at 7AM or 10PM? The noise reduction is uncanny, and lights also.
Never knew anyone to mow at 10PM. The majority of folks where I am pay to have their lawns mowed, and those crews start at 7AM. Everyone is used to it.

California outlawed sales of gas powered lawn equipment built in 2024. So, I bought a Toro Commercial 21" w/Kawasaki engine, and two different gas powered power tools. Those new Honda's do look nice, but I'm set for the next decade...or two.

If someone can get a line on Gas Honda Engines or maybe Kawasaki's you can get in on the ground floor with a electric mower repower kit.

I'm sure they are will be very good, but that pricing is strong.

Not that simple to convert................. transmission, controls, fitment, vertical configuration, etc. Cost not effective.

Have you used a battery mower?
