Honda HT4213 Charging System trouble

Hi, Folks!

I'm trying to get some info on HT4213 charging systems. Our neighbor's tractor isn't charging, battery ran down. I checked the system voltage with the engine at operating speed and only got battery voltage. I would think it should be 1-2 volts higher than that.

Any suggestions?

Yes, it should be at least 1 ~2VDC higher than that of what the battery holds.

If you can't find faults, think alternator replacement.

Thanks for the reply. Any hints on diagnosis? Where is the alternator on an HT4213? I haven't received my service manual yet.

While I cannot tell you exactly how your alternator looks like (don't come across those Hondas here very often here), your best bet is to get a service manual for your honda unit:

You simply treat your Honda just like you treat a Honda motorcycle or a small sized Honda car. What you have on a motorcycle, you shall have the same thing on your HT4213.

Good thing is that Plano Power Equipment seems to carry some of the service parts so all you have to do is to get the parts.

Remember 1 last thing: if you have an ignition switch, a starter motor and a battery cell, your unit shall behave just like a car/motorcycle: you draw power from your battery to start the engine, and afterwards, an alternator shall provide the bulk of the juice for the engine + additional juice for recharging the battery....
