how good is the honda gcv 160 lawnmower engine is ohc overkill for a lawnmower engine.thinking of buying new lawnmower for my dad.mtd stainless steel deck with honda engine.for same price can buy sears rwd with briggs flathead.cannot make up my mind which to buy.

I'm extremely pleased with mine. First pull starts, relatively quiet, and sips fuel. It doesn't bog in high grass as the previous B&S did while rated at one more horsepower. The B&S was one year old and absolutely guzzled gas but it was an old style flathead.

None of that matters if you feel he would be better off with a self propelled mower. I prefer to push.

That deck and engine should last forever. If the wheels and handlebar are decent, get it. That OHC engine burn less fuel than a flat-head engine.

I luv my Honda qudra cut self propelled single speed. I bot it new for $350, a pretty good price. It's not just the specs. Which mower is easier, more pleasant to use? My Honda starts on the first 1/2 pull.

thanks guys for input. i am going to get the mtd honda engine the wheels on the sears look kind of wobbly. sounds like you guys are pretty happy with the honda.

Bought the mtd honda mower oil came with it.Arnold lawnmower oil10/30 api sj.When i was pouring the oil in the engine the oil looked green.Maybe Brad Penn oil but i doubt it any thoughts whose oil it could be. By the way engine started on the first pull father is really happy with mower.
