Honda Civic- varnish on dipstick (Pics)

I had varnish on my Dodge truck for many years until I used Pennzoil Platinum and then it went away in one OCI.

The varnish on the dipstick could be from residual oil left from checking and not wiping it all the way off. The inside looks spotless.

I see nothing here to worry about. Looks like our CRV at 5k OCI (one year) with the Honda Full Synthetic 5W-20 or Idemitsu 0W-20.

Honda engines are so tough, you could probably use Vegetable oil in the crankcase and she'd run like a top.

Don't worry about the varnish.

Regards, JC.

looks fine. Run some quality syn if you want to remove varnish overtime time. Otherwise , stick to what has been working for you.

My 2 toyota engines (used cars) came with varnish on dipstick.
Been running Full synthetic PP / M1 for the last 50k miles but the varnish is still there.

So did both of my Toyotas. I ran the M1 High Mileage version and it was gone by 3k, never returned in the last 90k on the Camry.
