@53' Stude do people send you filters in the mail, and you cut them open, and post them?
Yes sir, my way of paying it forward to the board. It’s kind of my addiction, better than drugs I say@53' Stude do people send you filters in the mail, and you cut them open, and post them?
plenty of old stock around at AAP’sDidn’t they quit making them?
Sounds like a plan. Send me a PM if you want to do that. Thank YouNot sure if the Honda Fit I service for a friend has the same filter as you already did.
But if not, next time I change her oil, I will mail you the filter if you want.
When she needs her fit serviced, she buys a Honda filter at the dealer, and brings it to me.
Is there any difference in media area? It might be fascinating to cut virgin examples side by side. That gives me an idea…3593A is a blast to the past for me, My 99 civic Si took that filter. I think Stude might be right, I haven't seen a 3593A in a parts store in ages.
9688 is a wider filter and about as long as a 7377 IIRC.

You would need to check on your vehicle. Is there are larger filter that will work on my Hondas that normally get the M1-110 or XX 7317?
Media area between the two has been compared here in the Puro versions of the 7317/(14610) versus 9688/ (14459), and the former had more. With the Honda filter oil pan and block restriction on many/most newer Hondas, the 7317 and equivalents the easy call now, imo....the 7317 is a little taller but the amount of media looks to be pretty close from what I could find on whipcity channel.......
I assume by oil cap you mean a filter wrench. You would need to check on your vehicle.
That S2000 wider filter does NOT fit on my '17 Accord or my daughters '08 CRV. Too much metal stuff around it. Both have room to go longer but not wider.
At the same time I can't really go much longer on the Pilot. It sits right over the frame and with a filter cap I need to use a wrench to loosen it as a 3/8" ratchet makes the whole thing too long. The wider filters are OK.
The Honda factory oil caps have a 17mm nut with 3/8" square center. I'll try to get a picture next time.
The new version 15400-pcx-306 from pictures is a Mahle made in Thailand. When this one come off I'll let you know. A bunch of road trips on this OCI so has just over 4k on it already since January 18th.This larger p/n FILTECH Honda filter tore two pleats near the endcap when I ran it on a Nissan Rogue QR25DE across winter.
Disappointing as I paid $14 for it. Filtech supplied Honda service parts in the USA then Fram was brought in later IIRC
Yes, the filter wrench if that's how you want to identify it, I consider a wrench the versions that have a handle on them. Multiple old school band wrench versions, rubber strap ones etc. I consider these a cap and I need to use other wrench or ratchet with it. I have this one and the larger (with a cutout window) for the other filters.I assume by oil cap you mean a filter wrench.
I've installed a LOT of 7137 size filters (generally M1-110a) over the years, and I like how I can generally install AND REMOVE them by hand with no tools; the smaller diameter works with my available grip strength (decreasing as it is) to suffice. It's notable that "reasonably snug" tight by hand turns into "I can't believe this is hand tight" when it comes time to remove.
Once in awhile I will need to break out the filter pliers, but it's pretty rare.
It sounds to me then that there's no compelling reason to pursue the other size Honda filters as the media area is not appreciably different.
