Hi folks,

Sooo this is weird. The Accord in my sig is telling me to change the oil (Maintence Minder Code: A1) but right above it says that the oil life is 60%.....

Current mileage is 5,100. Over 4,000 of those are to Ohio and back.

What gives?

My Mom has a '18 CR-V so I'm guessing much of the same applies and the manual clearly indicates "A" = replace engine oil. The number "1" means rotate tires. The system is certainly confusing and contradicting itself when it also shows the oil has 60% life remaining. I would follow slacktide's logic but that doesn't mean it's not silly.

Obviously tire rotations should be done at relatively fixed mileages but the engine oil life won't follow that (all the time). Sure seems like Honda needs to revise their MM system to remove the "A" reference to changing the oil and rely on the % counter.

You don't need to replace your engine oil until 1 yr or 15% on the MM. The A indicates oil only and the B oil and filter. If your driving habits don't change and you don't do a season tire switchover you can use the MM for rotation too. The MM should start to flash at startup when service is due.
