It was bought back in 2002, and now has around 1500 hours on it. Ive always used Honda 10w-30 as recommended, but recently the 20i has seen around 40-50 hours a week, every second or third week. It gets really hot too, running in around 30 degree heat for up to 10 hours a day. I have some Redline 10w-40 left over and was thinking about using that. Is there anything better i could use? Would like to change it every 100 plus hours, which is twice the manufacturers recommendation with the mineral 10w-30.

Honda engines design to take on any 10W30 multiviscosity motor oil, with most common being 10W30.

You can put anything you want, it's your choice.

I've used Rotella 5w40 Synthetic (now T6) for a few years now and am very happy. I use it in my Honda Helix, OPE, Generator, etc. They all start easily in cold weather and the HDEO provides plenty of protection in the summer heat. The Rotella T5 10w30 is good stuff too-use it without worry.

Great oil at a good price-and available at any WalMart.

Being a Honda it will run on about anything, but I try to put the best I can (within a certain price point)in my engines to protect them.

With that heat a 5W-40 synthetic would be a good choice. The thicker oil would be good for the air cooled engine in the warmer climate.

Mobil1 15w-50. Australian heat vs. Floridian heat.
