Hompow 6000a jump starter $54.99

Well you guys got me, I ordered one. I was skeptical based on the critical reviews but seeing it crank the CTD in the video overrided all logic.

I still think the weakness of these cheap no-names is QC -- most will be fine but some will just randomly stop taking a charge, etc. Could be build quality (soldering etc), could be electronics, could be battery cells....or a combination of any of that

Not sure if it makes a difference. The Hompov is 2.15lbs and the Gooloo is 3.94lbs. The Gooloo has more battery?
Where did u get that gooloo 3.94lb weight from? Maybe that includes the cables?

Brick only
Gooloo Gp4000
29oz = 822grams= 1.8lbs

Avapow 6000a
42oz = 1190grams =2.6lbs

Hompow 6000a
34oz = 963 grams = 2.1lbs

If only it had an air compressor...
Absolutely can save the day when in a bind. I recently was driving when the TPMS light popped on. Pulled over and sure enough one tire was down to 22 psi (from 36 cold) and I used the jump starter to get that tire inflated in what might have been a minute or so. Drove a bit further and light came on again. Once again that tire was down in low 20s. Topped it off once more and safely made it to a tire center where they confirmed something had punctured the tire and was ejected, definitely explaining the loss of air in transit. Tire was patched and considered good to go. Along with the jump pack I've kept onboard for awhile I now keep a quality plug kit just in case. Problem in this instance was not seeing any visible sign of it being punctured the way it transpired.

From Amazon's descriptions.

But hell I ordered one since posted the weight. So now I'll have one in each car. I have a Gooloo 4000A and jumped started my Tacoma about 6 times without a recharge until I could get a new battery.

I've got a NOCO GB40 I keep in my JL but it's been absolute junk. Never works to jump a vehicle. The other day after a FULL charge I used it to charge my ancient Samsung phone and it dropped to 25% without even fully charging my phone.

I love NOCO's clamps and cables but this unit has soured me on them forever.
does the NOCO not take a charge?
this might help you.

Thank you! It actually does charge, and seems normal because it gradually climbs up the dots....50%, 75% etc

It just appears to have no capacity because it's rare it will even try to turn over a 4 cylinder. And charging just my cell phone still takes it down to 25% but only gets my phone to ~40%

I don't feel comfortable leaving a no name Chinese lithium battery pack in my car on hot days. My jumper cables will work just fine.

I will not jump anybody's battery with my $50,000 plus truck. Far too many electronics in today's vehicles. I would be more than happy to use my AAA membership for somebody in need and wait until you are on your way.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7-gate.

I have comprehensive coverage and sleep well at night. Granted, my gooloo does not have the word "pow" in the name.

The $200 NOCO GB70 also underperforms compared to a Gooloo that only costs half as much

I was scared about using my Gooloo on anything bigger than a Prius(all it needs to start is to initialize the hybrid vehicle/HV battery ECUs, the PCM for the ICE to close the EFI main relay to actuate the fuel pump and close the SMRs)/Fit/Civirolla but I used mine to jump start a V8 once. It worked surprisingly well. I used it recently to start a Jeep Compass. It kicked it over on the first try.
