Its considered a "lowcountry color" - think soft pastels - green, yellow, blue. I can see why in the desert its not common. It doesn't likely fit in with all the earth tones? Maybe I am tone deaf? Colors come and go. Grey everything with black roof was all the rage a few years ago. I bet its a negative now - definitely dates the last reno.
