i'm having a problem with the electric in my kitchen. Power goes out to GFI, Stove, and a lamp in living room. Breaker doesn't trip. I replaced the breaker, it worked fine for a day or so, then power goes out, the new breaker doesn't trip. I had a GFI laying around so I replaced that too, same problem.

I plan on checking the box tomorrow to see if any of the white wires that go to the grounding block are loose. Then if that doesn't work, check the stove outlet, and the outlet in the living room. I'm hoping I don't have to run a new wire from the box to the kitchen.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well, one has to first determine/differentiate between the 240VAC part (that feeds the heater element), and then that's the timer/clock/controller modules, etc. that runs on 120V AC.

Is your problem associated to the 120V AC section, or 240V AC section? Also: if 120V AC section is what you having trouble with, then have you check and see if the GFI has been hooked up properly? (if hooked up wrongly, the GFI breaker may either not trip at all, or trip the wrong part of the electrical circuits before the main breaker has a chance to trip.

GFI has been in place for 12 years, installed by an electrician when I updated the kitchen. The stove is gas, so only the clock portion of the stove is out, 120V. Problem started Thursday no problems for the 12 years I'm in this house, that is until Thursday.

Power goes out to that 1 line which is on a 15 Amp breaker. GFI Stove, and 1 lamp in the living room.

GFIs protect downstream, ck that.

Code is kitchen outlets not shared with rest of house, fwiw.

Man, be careful - get this checked and fixed quick. As EJ said - you should not have the outlet in the LR on the same circuit unless its on a breakfast bar partitiion or something sim. You are getting water in your panel? It s raining cats and dogs and frogs here. Did you have the whole front off the panel to check the terminal block and set screws?

No water, LOL. That went into the garage.

the basement is dry. I'm going to spend some time with it tomorrow, I have the power off to it. I'll have to get my brother to look at it. He seems to think based on a phone conversation there is something loose in the box. I hope!
