I was poking around Lowe's today and happened upon a $99 turkey fryer kit that includes a 35qt pot with a drain valve. The pot is aluminum, which some people eschew for home brewing (not me), but the spigot makes this a great deal; the ones at my local brew shop go for $150 and on Ebay they're hit & miss. And besides the pot, you get the added benefit of an outdoor brewing setup...which means a boil over isn't a big deal, 'cept for the grass.

May have to pick this up...but I'll wait for a "$20 project starter card" to come in the mail first.

That's a steal! Working my way up to all grain, still doing extract kits. (Limited space for all grain equipment is why I haven't jumped in yet)

I've always stayed away from Al. But that rig looks great....please can you post the OD size of the pot it will handle...I have a stainless pot with spigot - 15 gallon.

Looks promising. Please report the build quality, etc.

In my experience, a freshly scrubbed aluminum pot can and will impart flavor into the woort. Simply boiling a pot of water, or applying dry heat, will rebuild the protective layer of aluminum oxide. After that, the amouny of metal shed drops to near zero. Just try not to scrape the sides or bottom if stirring with a metal spoon.

How does this compare to the $50 one from walmart? I want something with BTUs for boiling sap into maple syrup.
