HM resource conserving or non?

If you had to choose a High Mileage oil would you choose one that is resource conserving like Mobil Super High Mileage, or one like Valvoline Maxlife or Castrol High Mileage that is not? How is mobil able to do this but the others cant or wont?

I probably start with one and pick the one that leaked/burned less!
I'd start with mobil, and then maxlife ( I've seen a lot of posts here about reduced consumtion with it.) Pennzoil High Mileage has worked well in my son's saturn, i have heard it has a weaker ad pack.

I without a doubt would start with MaxLife, it has been around a long time and works well. You Generally need to give at least 2 OCI's to start seeing some results so I would want to start with the one with a known track record. The Mobil 1 Super High Mileage is unknown and the additive pack is not impressive IMO.


Spasm3 is right use what works but I think he means the older Mobil 1 High Mileage (good stuff), not Mobil 1 Super High Mileage.

It seems to be related to the viscosity. Thinner oils can get better gas mileage in the API test, and it's one of the requirements for the "Resource Conserving" label. All other high mileage oils that I know of are thicker oils and do not quality as "Resource Conserving."

I agree with chubbs1, start with MaxLife. It's the gold-standard.
