HM oil Ester

I read somewhere here that Ester is what is added to High Mileage oil to help condition the seals. Is it Poly Ester like the base oil for Red Line oil or is it a different type of ester. Does Poly Ester do anything for seals?

I don't know anything about polyester. There was/is a thread in the additive forum that speaks of fatty acid esters and fatty acid ester-amides and fatty acid esters of diethanolamine.(just a wild guess at spelling) I don't really know if they were good for seals or just friction modifiers, or both. I do remember the discussion was primarily about friction modifiers.

If you can get it to work, you might try a search in the additive forum.
