HM oil and oil leaks

I'm wondering how much of a difference there is between a '96 Avalon and a '99 Camry; because I've got a factory service manual for a '99 Camry.

This is precisely my concern with using High Mileage oil in an engine that DOESN'T leak then switching back to a non conventional oil and having leak issues.

For what it's worth. I ran MaxLife for one 3,000 mile OCI in my mom's '03 Malibu (with no leaks previously, and all 3-4k OCI's) and switched back to conventional for this OCI and there's no leaks...

In my experience, High Mileage oils did not help with leaks at all, either from seals or gaskets. I have tried Maxlife and Ultralife. I have decided not to use High Mileage oils anymore. Either I fix the seal or live with the leak. I have observed that on an engine at risk of leaks (due to age) High Mileage oils can make a leak appear (or become worse) after you stop using them.

I had a rear seal leak and on my 2nd oil change with High Mileage oil it stopped. I have had a good experience with High Mileage oil.

Same, we used MaxLife on my sister's firebird which had a very slow leak and it stopped it completely within a few thousand miles.
