Does anyone know what year Supertech oil first came out?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I didn’t have any luck searching it.

AI says 1989, but I’m sometimes leary of their information.

Thanks

Right around the millennium, because they called it "Tech2000" before then.

It was 74 cents a quart at its lowest that I'd seen. Weights from 5w30 to 20w50. All you needed back then.

It was made by Quaker State circa 2000, and Walmart sold Champ Labs made "STP" filters for $1.97. The boxes had a little cellophane window so you could see the quality inside.

internet churns up very little on dates there's nothing on the supertech official website or a wiki page. I know my brother in-law was using it in the early 2000's though.

I too remember when SuperTech Oil was called TECH 2000. And I remember seeing it in my area in the late 80’s/early 90’s. I used to buy a case of 12 quarts for $8.88 and the filters for ~ $1.88. Also their 1gallon jugs of Dexron ATF for $4.25
They used to also have TECH 2000
Oil filters
ATF
Brake Fluid
Tubes of Grease
Gear Oils
Washer Fluid
Car Wash Soap
and even TECH 2000 car wax which seemed very much like Nu-FINISH

At one point I believe Supertech was ExxonMobil in certain regions and could easily be discerned by shape of the jugs compared to the WPP jugs.
That might be myth I heard people say look for the letter on the bottom of the jugs if there is a P - Pennzoil E - ExxonMobil C - Castrol or S - Shell and W - Warren, that turned out to be nothing more than bottle supplier and in house referencing for manufacturing plants.

I don't remember the first year but I remember the old tech 2000. On another note I miss the enthusiastic year 2000 thing back then it was such a big deal culturally, was so fun and memorable.
