High Speed Connection Prices

Right now Im living in an apartment that has "free" cable TV. So, I pay 42.95 for comcast and have lots of speed.

When I get my home, Ill calculate what is the best thing pricewise... I use a cellphone for telephone service, but Ill see if a rotary phone service with dialup, same with DSL and cable tv with hs internet come out to stack up pricewise.

I really love the speed, but the price is just too high. Id also really hate to pay for cable, just to have to watch commercials anyway. Im leaning towards DSL one way or another, so I do have a landline and dont have to pay the ridiculous cable costs... Ill just get some rabbit ears for the TV and all will be well

we shall see how it goes. telephone services have such ridiculously high taxes...

Find a neighbor who has a landline, pay for a DSL service on their line, and network it to your place. Wireless can go 100 or 200 feet pretty easily, and you can encrypt it so only you have access, or even share it with the neighbor.

I have Atlantic Broadband cable access for $21.00 / month. I have 300 kbps service. I figure it's worth $11.00 more per month not to have to deal with my phone being used by the computer. It's much faster and cheaper than another phone line or call waiting. If I moved about .1 mile down the road I would be able to pick up wireless from a neighbor. I have three different wireless providers I can pick up with my laptop while I am at work.

We have the Earthlink/Sprint deal going on back in Katy. Earthlink does their high speed through Time Warner so with the 60 bucks or so a month, we get Digital Cable on one TV (naturally... its the 57 inch Sony HDTV) and the 5mbs cable.... that's a good deal, especially with 5 computers at home.

That's a pretty good deal. I fork out about $80 / month for cable and internet after taxes. All I have is basic plus the digital service (extra $1 every month) and the slow 300 kbps internet.

Ahhh, if I only had a 57" television.
