High quality magnetic oil drain plug.

I put a no name Amazon magnetic plug in my Titans oil pan. Looked to be well machined and came with a solid brass washer.
First thing I did was try and pull out the magnet with a pliers. No way.
No sign of leakage or weeping so gave it another go round.

Thanks.

If you click on post #11 it will take you back to the thread with pics of how i made it.
Where are you getting your magnets? Everything on Amazon in remotely that shape is like 160pcs for $130

I don't plan to build 160 magnetic plugs and I don't want to be sitting on 156 oddball magnets.....

Those magnets are N48 and only have a working temperature of about 80 deg C (~176 deg F). I wouldn't be putting them in my engine.
I think the n48 is a description mistake.

N refers to neodymium.
Samarium cobalt it good to 500c.
I can also tell you from use, that they are brittle if you slam them into something, they will chip.
I feel sure these are samarium cobalt and not neodymium.

Here is another source of you don't trust the eBay listing. Under more info, it lists the temp to 572f.

This was on a Gold Plug today in a '19 Ram 1500 5.7 with 110k

Would the filter have caught all this? I'm not qualified to say.

Even if it was never filtered, would this material have caused excessive engine wear? I don't know.

Is it worth a one-time ~$25 to catch this stuff? I can't speak for the finances or risk aversion of another person.

I like gold plug so much, just order one for my Lexus . I might have to loose a quart of oil swap the drain plug lol

Now that I've got the Samarium Cobalt magnets it's like I'm a hammer and every drain plug looks like a nail. I want to ream every one I touch and press in a magnet :D

Fortunately time constraints prevent me from going too crazy

Guys , I think I install the washer wrong . My leaking pretty bad . I think I install the flat side of the washer facing the drain plug and the round side facing the oil pan .

I should be the flat side facing the oil pan and the round side facing the drain plug .

I did a search about which side washer install . The answer is 50/50.

I was not pay attention when install the washer. But I have feeling I install it wrong . I tight it down a bit more and seem like the leak is reduced. But still bother me lol .

To think about it’s . It’s make more sense to me is the flat side facing the oil pan for this type of crushed washer . Some washer the flat side facing the drain plug, man I don’t know lol.

One day I might feel bore and making a mess try swap the plug. Will see

These are rely from gold plug . Should I try over torque the drain plug . Factory recommend 20ft-fbs, gold plug told me to try 30, I think it might be too much .

I'm honestly not sure what you're talking about. I've only seen Goldplug furnish solid Al washers.

Are you talking about the literal crush washers that are rolled over with an air gap (before crushing)? I do prefer these but ideally they have to be replaced every change.
