high mileage oil

I have a 2000 dodge neon and i need some help deciding which high mileage oil to use i would to use valvoline maxlife castrol gtx pennzoil quaker state supertech or havoline

Are you consuming oil? Do you have to top off?

I just bought a jug of SuperTech High Mileage just because it's cheap and i consume a lot.

My girlfriend has a 2000 neon, we have been feeding it a steady diet of SuperTech conventional and supertech filters at 4k intervals.

9 Dollar oil change, and I have had great results.

The car doesn't use a drop of 5w30 and has 85k miles on it.

I've used MaxLife, Castrol High Mileage and now Supertech High Mileage (they all do a reasonably good job w/ supressing smoke at start-up - ie, leaky valve guides). I can't say any is definitely better than the other. I'd go with ST, especially if you have consumption ($$). Good luck!

I think it's funny when someone asks about High Mileage oil and then everyone else automatically assumes the OP is having massive amounts of oil consumption.

I used MaxLife in my sister's car and I really like it. The 300hp LT1 revs perfectly with it, it hasn't gone down on the dipstick after 3k miles, and it slowed down the small leak (the reason I used it). I haven't had any experience with any other High Mileage oils though, so I can only comment from what i've used.

I didn't assume. I asked. Because your oil choice IMHO depends greatly on how much you use (consume) on a regular basis.

If my rings were in better shape i wouldn't be using Supertech High Mileage oil.
