Our 02 Subaru Forestor is nearing 70k miles. Our goal is to keep the car for over 200K miles. While I have run synthetic and conventional in it, I would like to lean toward synthetic.
I started wondering if there would be of benefit to a high mileage oil in this application. I was actually thinking about mixing it half and half with synthetic or just throwing in a quart of the highmileage stuff. Truthfully, I don't know anything about the additives. Well, I do know one thing, they charge more for it.
Now this made me wonder if it might not be a bad idea to throw a quart of high mileage oil in my truck, even though it is young in it's lifespan.
After all, would the seals benefit from this "cocktail?" Would it keep the engine cleaner. Or could it be harmful?
Digressing a bit here: I guess this is what Bitog does. My garage is starting to look the the oil section of an auto parts store and now I want to run a custom cocktail.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
