High mileage oil for a diesel engine?

Something on the lines of Valvoline Restore and Protect, but it is (1) not available in India and (2) appears to be a gasoline spec.

This is for a 3.2 liter 5 cyl Ford Duratorq engine, turbo diesel but no modern emission controls like SCR and has run ~ 100k miles so far. Yeah not very much but there are initial signs of seal sweating and such.

I got the EGR and throttle body removed and cleaned, and switched to 15w40 CI4+ conventional oil, though Ford for some reason (maybe one oil filts all for a small 1 liter gas hatchback or a diesel SUV) specifies ACEA A5/B5 5w30 in India for their older cards, and 0w30 ACEA C2 for newer ones with SCR/NOX.

The leak does seem to have been arrested but is there a Valvoline Restore and Protect equivalent for diesel oils by any chance? Or just take the usual ester heavy base stock of a conventional HDEO and go ahead use that?

You could try a C3 oil with a high virgin oxidation value. Can you get Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 or 0w-40 over there? Otherwise can you buy an engine cleaner from say HPL?

Does using oil made for gas engines complicate things a bit by potentially not having the proper amount of additives to handle the additional soot a diesel makes?

Could you add a quart or 2 of something like Valvoline Restore and Protect in with a diesel specific oil, that has an extra stout additive package, to get the oil mixture back to an exceptional level of detergents and dispersants for the application?

Mobil 1 0w40 is very much available and ubiquitous in India, as are Mobil 1 ESPs. I can also get Shell Helix Ultra (aka PUP, stateside), Castrol, Amsoil, all sorts of Valvoline other than Valvoline Restore and Protect which unfortunately isn't sold in India.

HDEO already has lots of detergents for soot dispersal. Esters for seal conditioning as well thanks to Group I/II base stocks in conventional. I used a STP "stop leak" that had the typical fruity ester smell for about a 1000 miles with my previous oil fill, and that did arrest the issue. Thinking whether to stick to HDEO - which are decent, but nowhere near as smooth running as Mobil 1 0w40 or other full synthetics, and have a shorter drain interval.

I wouldn't consider 100K "high mileage" for a diesel. The seals sweating comment, is that referring to a bit of oily vapor seepage in the intake piping tubing? If so, that's normal for a turbodiesel. If you're talking about things like the main seal or valve cover seal then that's a different issue altogether. Turbodiesels need to be worked hard to maintain good compression.

I wouldn't use any oil additives, just good quality HDEO and preferably a "full synth" 15w40 if you can find it.

In my case it was around the valve cover, and around the rear main seal. Not vapor seepage. Enough for moisture around the seal that'd leave oily residue on your fingers when you opened that tiny inspection hatch that lets you check the rear main seal on my vehicle.

Not the intake piping seepage that's pretty normal. 100k km in a hot country like India is somewhat different for a diesel (think Louisiana type weather, hot and humid, plus heavy city traffic for some 25% of its use cycle).

You don't need Valvoline Restore and Protect, that is not diesel engine oil.

Here are two thread discussing the oil for your engine. Read them and then decide which one would be best.

This one is from 2020:

This one is from 2016:
https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/powerstroke-duratorq-5-cylinder-oil.252454/

Quick scan over those two tells me you should run either 5W-40 CJ-4 or any ACEA C3 oil.

Oh I've run just that - anything from CI4+ to CK4 given that mine's just got an EGR but no SCR / adblue. Or ACEA C3. I just want an oil with an adequate amount of seal conditioner in it so that I don't have to struggle with worsening leaks.
