High Mileage oil comparisons?

I prefer the Castrol for alleviating engine issues. I tried it - plus the Maxlife dino.

I was about to try the Maxlife Synthetic next -- but I just uncovered five quarts of old SL Pennzoil Synthetic (Pennzane) in the basement. So I'm running that next - due to age/rotation system that I have.

Pardon this newbie question, but I surmise from your response that PAO = "good" and ester = "not as good", and that the "slippery" Maxlife is your preference because of it?

I'm still a newbie too, I don't claim to be anywhere near an expert on oils; however, I do know how to drain it from the car and refill it.

I don't know much about ester either, all I know is that it's a Group V oil and it's derived from animals. PAO is Group IV oil and that it's still derived from petroleum. Someone else is welcome to fill in the blanks.

Ester = good(er?) or your Aunt that makes good apple pies.
