Good morning everyone.I never used High Mileage motor oils before and my truck has a little over 70,0000 miles on it with no leaks and dont burn between oil changes.Question here Castrol GTX High Mileage is on sale and has anyone have good results with their product?I missed out on Maxlife and people here love it.I dont here much about much love on Castrol GTX High Milage motor oils.Seems im being rediculous but i will take my lumps.Planning to put 6 or 7,0000 miles on this oil and used the high mileage oil filter.

Aside from Castrol's goofy marketing campaigns and generally uninformative product spec sheets, they do make good oils. I've never run GTX High Mileage, but I have run other oils of theirs, and they worked for me, on the racetrack, and in my tow vehicle. But since your truck only has 70k miles on it, maybe it's premature to start running high mileage oil. All the High Mileage oil makers say to start using it at 75k miles, but I don't consider an engine has high miles until it tops 100k.

I have used Castrol High Mileage in the past and thought it was a good oil. No compliants. Besides the cost difference, I wouldn't bother switching to a HM unless you had some consumption or oil burning which you don't. I would stick to what you are already using.
I have run Castrol High Mileage a LOT. Still run it exclusively in the Concorde. It is one of the few hold out "thick for grade" High Mileage oils which I like. It also runs very quietly in everything I have ever put it in.
Thanks for the response guys.I guess i baby my truck too much.Im going to pick up some Quaker State conventional today and do the oil change.By the way its a 2008 Dodge Dakota SLT 4x4 with the 4.7 under the hood and a very nice truck since last when i sold my 1971 Chev pickup with a rebuilt 350 sure had some good memories.Wish i hadnt sold it
Castrol oil has always been on the "thicker" side of all oils compared to it. I don't know much about its High Mileage oil, but, if KC gives it a thumbs up, you can believe in him.

I agree. It's a good product from a good company with the KC stamp of approval. I too like how it is thick for grade and would happily run it in any suitable car, old or new.

KC, how does Castrol High Mileage work on stopping/slowning leaks? Is the High Mileage oil about as thick or thicker than the regular Castrol? How would you compare it to Pennzoil High Mileage?
