To my fellow Texans, glad to report the new Harbor Bridge is finally open after almost a decade. Gotta say the thing is an absolute monster. Primary purpose for construction was to finally allow those really large container ships to enter the harbor. Will be interesting to see how this will positively affect what is already the nation's third largest port in terms of tonnage and our largest crude oil export gateway.

The coolest feature to me is the pair of pedestrian walkways on each side...not too different from those on the Golden Gate (but a bit longer).

Headed to Port Aransas in a little bit, so will take a ride across her on the way home.

My aunt & uncle lived by the water in Portland - spent a couple weeks every summer with them …

Thanks for the news....always cool when a bridge opens.
However, that "report" was beyond lame.
He spoke like a totally awesome child, gave no facts at all and the camera work was lacking.

Cool. We have a branch down there that is a part of my region, so I'll see it soon. And we're planning on taking a trip there this summer when our granddaughter comes to visit. I like the area.

Agree the report was pretty lame. Despite having about 400K people in the area, Corpus is in many ways a small town with cheesy news coverage and rookie reporters. There's a certain charm to that, I suppose, although we could probably do without televised reports on new Whataburger and DQ openings...or could we?
