Hey Honda Owners-Filter Question

Why the question? Just wanted to find out if anyone had ever used them. I have seen them used in racing applications but never street use.

Why spend the extra money? I'm not. I'm using the Honda filters that are made in Canada by FRAM.

I'm not impressed with what I read on the Mugens web site. They used Honda filters as the benchmarrk and Honda only claims to filter 70% of dirt 30 microns and greater.

It's not difficult to do a better job than the crappy Fram-made Honda filters. Either get the Toyo Roki or Filtech filter from Honda or use a quality aftermarket filter.

I agree, with the Mugen filter you're paying for the name. Its just something for a stupid ricer to buy an add to his mod list. I've had excellent luck with Purolator PureONEs on my Civic.

I bought a genuine Honda filter from the local dealer a few days ago, part number 15400-PLM-A01.

It is 2.72 in diamter and 3.4 high, and holds about a cup of oil. My guess is that after a few miles it is operating in the 8psi bypass mode at highway speeds. Can you say excessive bearing wear? thought you could....

But, it does have the Dana logo (without the name) on the inside flange.

Hi,

On my Dads Honda powered Vue he is using Supertech 7317.

We cut the factory filter and the Supertech open after the oil changes and the Supertech was made better IMO...

All looked well and the outfit is doing great!

Take care, bill

I would love to use Purolator but seems like I can't find it in the bay area, where 90% of all auto parts stores are Kragen, which only carry Fram >=O

So I opt for the Honda filter as I already got the wrench for it and back in the days they were pretty good when made by Filtech.

Now I still stay with Honda, but decided to get only the Toyo Roki filter made for the S2000. None of my $ will go to Fram as they don't deserve a dime from me.

Mugen IMO is either marketing hype or overkill, for $27 a pop, you better get Paris Hilton to install it for you naked.

I'm using Purolators in the wife's Ody and they seem well built. I may go to Napa Silver though, since both my Max and the Ody would use the same filter if I do so, which is convenient.

In the SF bay area you can get Purolators from Pep Boys (Pure One and Premium Plus) or Sears (Premium Plus only). Kragen has Bosch and K&N which are made by Champion.

This week RS Straus (NY and NJ area) has Powerflo 4459's for 3 for 5.00 (1.67 each). These seem to be Purolator PP clones and work well in my wifes Accord.

I was able to just score a case (30) of 15400-PLM-A01s!!! from a new b2b source.

These are the original Filtech, Inc. filters.

I can also confirm that Filtech, Inc. is still supplying UP TO 50% of the share of Honda OEM filters, the other half going to the big F.

I use Napa Gold filters on my Integra GSR. I also bought a Mobil 1 filter the other day and am going to try that on my next change. For the Mugen you will be paying for the name.

Has anyone successfully used an S2000-spec Toyo Roki on a 7th gen (01+) Civic?

HondaMan, have you seen the old style Filtechs available anywhere else? I'd love to convert back if I could find them anywhere.
