It also has 4 wheels. You going to claim that makes it like the focus? Go sit in a C-Max, it shares nothing with the focus other than probably mytouch/infotainment. It has more headroom, different seating heights, different shape, different driving dynamics, etc. It is nothing like a focus hatch/wagon.
It's not that far off from a Focus & that's not a bad thing. Reading up on the vehicle it appears it's more the 'MPV body-style' of the Focus, rather than traditional wagon, very much like the Camry / Venza IMO. Wheelbase is nearly identical (within 8mm) Different glass, panels and trim. According to wikipedia, it's often called the "Ford Focus C-Max". There is an actual Focus wagon in other markets.
Completely different! Remember the old Chevy suburbans that were based on the trucks? Those weren't related at all to the Chevrolet trucks! All they shared was 4 wheels with the same bolt pattern and the chevy logo, apparently.
I also suppose that the Explorer isn't , at all, related to the Taurus!
Even more funny, for not being related, the 2012 + Focus and C-Max sure seem to have an identical front suspension... the brakes also interchange with a Volvo.
So according to Ford (the manufacturer), they are built on the same platform, Rock auto says a lot of parts interchange ... but they are completely different, unrelated cars that just share a bolt pattern and a ford logo.
Have you told Ford that the C-Max, Focus, Transit Connect, Escape aren't actually related?
