I noticed in both those videos the crash vehicles were passing other traffic.
Maybe if they were taking it a little easier failure would've been postponed.
When I'm towing I set out to be perhaps the 2nd slowest vehicle on the road; low key.
 
Oh BTW, I posted here on another forum about my tire with an actual bubble blowing out yesterday. No drama, tire didn't go flat at the time it blew. Had plenty of time to pull over before it was flat. Actually got the jack in place before it was totally flat.

Getting a D is pretty close to Failure....
 
Unless it's AWD at least replace both rear tires. If it's AWD it's time for four new tires. Let us know how towing goes with your Escape, and keep an eye on trans temp...
