Help with painting hockey stick

Ok. I'm attempting to repaint a hockey shaft. I Sanded it down to the fiberglass/ bare paint. I bought a can of rustoleum primer, black, and clear in spray cans. I hit it with primer, the black, then clear coat. It said they could be applied on one another within the hour. The paint was rough the next day, so I sanded the rough out and hit it with clear coat again. Today the paint is still soft, and i can knick it off with my finger nail. Its a hockey stick so it needs to be resistant to hacks and abrasion. I sanded the clear off, fearing that it was trapping the rustoleum universal and not letting it harden. Its in the hot attic with a fan. Do i just leave it and hope it hardens? or am I SOL and it never will? What paint would you reccomend for fiberglass hockey stick? The paint that comes on them is extremely hard and durable and I cant scratch it with my nail. Wish I knew what easton used from the factory.Thanks =(

are all three coatings from Rustoleum?

yea theyre all rustoleum

you just need to wait a couple of days. Rustoleum is an oil based alkyd paint so it says soft for awhile. lacquers and catalyzed paints (automotive) dry quickly.

If you can wait a week it'll be hardened.

the hotter you can keep the thing the quicker it will flash off the solvents and the quicker it will harden.


If you can put it out in the direct sun that will be even better
