I am going to be getting one of these two units I belive. I have also looked at the TomTom 910 but it has had some mixed reviews. I am going to be useing it in a Big Rig/Tractor Trailer. I am leaning towards the Garmin 2720 but the Nuvi 350 also looks like a good product. If I have a handle on them the 2720 has a larger screen and more user flexability in route selection and the Nuvi is all about keeping it simple! Any first hand experinces are helpful!! Thanks!!

John,

I have had a Nuvi350 in my GTO since last Summer and it is a nice GPS. I don't think you would be disappointed with it. The Nuvi can also be used as handheld, of sorts, as it has an internal battery. I am not familiar with the 2720.

For Christmas, I bought a handful of Mio C310X GPS, that is basically a Nuvi clone for half the price, to give as gifts. I gave one to my daughter, who had also used my Nuvi 350 a lot, and she thought the Mio was basically as good for day to day navigational use.

You might want to take a look at the Mio, before you buy.

I went with the Garmin 2720 even though it is older technology that is being phased out by Garmin. First the Nuvi while probably a great unit for normal drivers was not set up for multiple destinations along a single route. The TomTom 910 wich was what I really wanted had too many mixed reviews from owners. The TomTom910 also had a hard drive and I was leary of that as I will explain in a minute. It also was reported to be a PITA if you wanted to do multiple destination along a single route. The Garmin 2720 while slower at satalite aquastion and not offering MP3,Video,Photo etc... it is supposed to be great at handleing multiple destinations or planed stops along a route, has no hard drive. You really do not get as many bell's and whistles with it as someof the competition and it is a bit pricey as well for you get but durability was my goal.Amazon has the best prices on the Nuvi'sand TomTom units!!!Walmart has the best price on the Garmin 2720. In addition to a dash mount it also comes with a bean bag mount so out of the box mounting is more flexable.

I am going to take a Truck Driveing class at a community college about 50 miles from my home. I plan on useing this device in a big rig/tractor trailer and they have a lot of vibration.I was worried about the hard drives and the vibration in the cab! My Dad goes through more CB radios because of the vibration in his trucks! I used to buy him $200 CB radios now I get him a stack of $39 CB radios instead. The cheap ones hold up just as well and you simply toss them away when they break as opposed to sending them off to get repaired!

For what it is worththe TomTom910 use's Linx and can be hacked rather easily and you can do your own upgrades to it.

I used the Nuvi 360 for several months and like it. Small enough to fit in my pocket, which is convenient. Use it on my daily walks for distance, so that's another benefit. I don't think you'd be disappointed with it. Got a good deal on Costco.com and received it within a few days. If you don't like it you can return it to ANY Costco store. Can't loose with that deal. Good luck, and tell us what you end up with.
