Help with a Honda Civic Work Car!!

Hi guys. I have a company car that is a 2002 Honda Civic manual transmission. It has 99,186 miles on it and the office has been having the Honda dealership change the oil every 3500 miles with their recommended Pennzoil 5w-20 since new.

Our office is in another state, an older employee got a new car and this one was passed down to me. (I had previously had a 1993 Honda Civic with 278,000 miles on it).

My question is what is a good oil to run in it now that I will be changing it myself? Should I go with synthetic, or stick with a good dyno? Any recommendations?

I would find out if possible what oil was used in the 93 civic and stick to that. If thats not possible, I would use 5w30 havoline dino in it myself. I doubt synthetic oil was ever used in it, and it would be interesting to use whatever oil got put it (if one brand?) to say someday, I have this 93 civic that has 400k on it by always using "quaker state" etc... in it.

i would put the cheapest dino possible considering that it is a work car and you will probably get another one as soon as someone else gets a new one. if you owned the car, or were planning to buy it, i would say castrol 5w20

Keep putting the Pennzoil 5W-20 in it and you will be fine. 5K might be a good oci, depending on your driving style. PZ is a good match up for this car.

go with 5k changes and pennzoil 5w20 or motorcraft 5w20. Its a waste to change out at 3k when these oils are capable of 5k.

I personally use mobil 1 0w20(guess ill have to get mobil 1 5w20 now) in my 02 civic ex 5spd manual, but I have been doing that since the 10,000 mile mark.

The choice is yours.
