I need help with suggestions for an oil filter for my 94 Nissan pickup truck. It has the 2.4 liter 4cyl. gas engine with 5 speed. I have run Mobil 1 5w30 in it since it was new , with oil changes every 7000 miles. I have tried the Nissan OEM filter, the Mobil 1 filter, and many others. But if it sits for any length of time the oil drains out of the filter and on start-up I get the rattles in the engine until the oil gets pumped back up. Is there any filter out there that is any better at stopping this or am I just stuck with the "rattles" forever.

I also picked up a SuperTech filter # ST3682 for it , but haven't put it on yet. Any comments on this filter too would be good.

Thanks for your input.

my z31 calls for the same filter so I know it should have an ADBV. If your car has the clearence, you may want to try using the Ford FL-1a. I never had any lifter tick on startup with this filter, even in -15F degree weather.

I'm assuming you have the KA24DE engine? Probably what's wrong with it is that the hydraulic lifters are worn so they don't retain oil. It takes a moment for the oil to get to the top of the engine. Only way to fix this is to replace the lifters or clean them.

I have an 89 Nissan truck with the 2.4 engine. I use the motorcraft filter fl300 on mine..I think yours could use the same thing...fram 3682 is the xref# I believe. 3682 is a small alternative. The motorcraft is working good for my engine...Check the specs for your filter on the wix page, but I think you can use the fl300
