??..... help me decide which oil to use.....??

First post here and I must say this forum is very helpful!

Here it is....
I have a 2008 350z with about 9,000 miles.
This car is not driven in the winter season.
Location is IL.

Currently, I've been using Motul 300V but have been hearing that unless it is a race car, this oil is not so great.
So I've been thinking about switching this spring.
Here are my choices and was wondering what everyone recommends.
Just here for any type of advice.

Mobil 1 (Euro Blend)
Amsoil
Shell Rotella T
German Castrol

Also, which type of viscosity should I consider? Manual says 5w30.

Stick with a 5w30 conventional or synthetic for whatever the warranty-specified OCI is - probably 7500 miles. Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 would be a good choice.

Dont get cought up in all this german castrol or mobil euroblend. you got a 350z, that you run from about april to october ish. so you probably get two oil changes maybe, or just one? any who i would use something like a good 5-30 from mobil 1 or even royal purple, change your filter about half way through the summer and top off if you use royal purple, its good for 10000 miles. so change at about 5000 miles. if you use mobil 1 you will be safe to 7500 like addyguy said. wix or napa gold filters

There are three problems with Motul 300V:

1. It's expensive
2. It won't run more than 4k-7k miles (depending)
3. It's expensive

Other than that, it's an excellent product. Very, very few oils can take hard abuse and keep working like 300V. Not saying you shouldn't switch, just making sure you know it's not bad stuff.

If you do want to switch, Pennzoil Platinum is probably your best bet. You could probably take that out to 10k miles, depending on your usage.

Since it isn't driven much I would also recommend PP, but that's not on your list, on your list I would recommend Amsoil.

If you went with a good filter and a good synthetic, you could just change it once a year and be done with it. One of the best would be Amsoil's filter and either the SSO or the ASL oil, either would take you that distance.

If you want a readily available oil then PP is about as good as it gets. If you want something of higher quality and dont mind ordering it, Redline 5w30 or AMSOIL Signature Series. I would run a Amsoil EaO oil filter and change it on the second OCI to get your money out of it if you go with Redline or Amsoil.

Synpower 5w40 would also be a great choice, if you want a 40grade. This oil holds up better than Mobil 1 0w40. IMO.

Oh, I know Motul is good oil. Just heard that for the price there are better oils out there? I do my oil change every 3,750.

I plan on putting more miles this summer because I just bought the car last year. This is my DD expect during winter. Maybe 12K this year?

I like to do many oil changes and not too worried about the price. I'm more concerned on best protection and quality??
Would PP still be a better choice?

Also, still using OEM filters... should I switch it up to NAPA Gold or Wix?

Depends.

If price is a factor, then yes, PP is a way better choice unless you drive your car REALLY hard.

If price doesn't matter, stick with 300V.

EDIT: There is also RLI (Renewable Lubricants). It's sort of new, but it seems to perform on par with 300V for much less money (although more than PP). It's also made from renewable resources by nice people in Ohio, which is a big plus. I didn't recommend it earlier because I thought you might like to stick with a name brand, but if you're looking for the best then this might be a slam dunk.

300V goes in my track bike which rarely drops below 7k rpms and gets switched out every other weekend. AMSOIL Signature Series in my truck
