It's a GE Nautilus dish washer, which is built in to the kitchen counter.

today while it was on operation, the breaker went off. I just reset the breaker and the d/washer started again, and i "thought" it sounded a bit slow/weird... (wife thought she smelled something weird/"burny" also, but I wasn't sure)
and then it suddenly stopped right after the "rinse" part. When we opened the door, there's about 3-4 inches of water standing on the bottom, which was not drained...
I checked the bottom and there's nothing obstructing anything...
and we didn't do anything/new for this wash cycle..

Now we close it back again and started to run from the "rinse" position again...and waiting to see if it finishes like normal, and drains out the water.

any feedback/help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
thanks a lot.

i have my dishwasher doing the dishes now, she's about 5' 10", and don't like my sense of humour mostly.

seriously this stuff could get you in the doghouse.

we have an electrnoicn dishwasher but dog pulled it over, now need new guides for the rails. It's been FUBAR for monhts now.

Im no dishwasher expert, but id think that the breaker would be sized to the heating element, as that would be the main draw, right?

For something else to cause a breaker to trip tells me that there may be a short or a seized motor. Id imagine that those are the two causes given the machinery in a washing machine, which could cause an issue.

Could something have caused a short via a heating element? I don't know much about them, but I know that I can get shocked via exposed resistive heaters in laboratory equipment... granted it has only been very weak (ask me how I know).

Good luck!

You may have to trade in the TV for a new washer.

Thanks.
I pulled off the drain screen at the bottom and it looked ok and clean..nothing clogging it...very tiny bits of gunk but I can't imagine that creating drain problems ... cleaned it anyway and put it back in...running another cycle now.

This d/washer looks like it's one that drains through the garbage disposal ...
After some reading, I'm beginning to think it's a solenoid/motor/pump problem ...

We rent, and I'm no plumber DYI person, so we're just gonna call the landlords. :)
I wanted to take off the hose betw. the d/washer and the garbage disposal (sinkirator) thingy, and check it for clogs, but wifey says don;t mess with it and the landlords will take care of it...

It's possible the main board on your dishwasher shorted out. Some of those lines have questionable seals to keep water away. If those seals fail, you end up with water onto a board with lots of circuits.

Crinkles, my dishwasher is a few inches shorter, and the drier shorter still.

Lots of TLC, and they will last you a lifetime.

Smart woman! listen to her, as tenant if your repair attempt causes more damage you are responsible for that damage.

Heh heh, when the Sears started sounding like Dr Who's tardis warming up. I took the pump apart. Diagnosis was a failed bearing. Can you buy a bearing, nope, gotta get the entire pump/motor assembly. I was gonna spring for the unit from Ebay, but then a likely prospect came up on Craigslist free stuff. The freebie is so quiet, that I cant hear it running. Craigslist freestuff, has become my 1st choice for appliances.
