My wife has a 94 geo tracker. 151k. Uses about a qt of oil every 200-250 miles. No leaks. Just a puff of blue smoke at one of our 3 minute stop lights. Runs strong. smooth idle. no hesitation.

Where to start? Oil adative?

check pcv valve and engine restorer clr at this point won't hurt anything, this stuff really works on damaged internals

Yes make sure the PCV valve has vacuum and that the pill inside is not gunked up (just go ahead and replace it...few bucks).

But I wouldn't but engine restorer in it.

Check and replace the PCV valve if needed. Then like addyguy said give Restore a shot. You might cut consumption down a bit.

Any plug fouling? Any clouds of smoke under high throttle? Any evidence of an oil soaked throttle body (or wherever they vent the crankcase to atmospheric in the air box)???

Ever do a compression check?

If there's no "show" of oil on the plugs or elsewhere ..then the pipe emissions at idle are PROBABLY valve seals. It can do this without the usual start up puffs that most report.

It also means that the crankcase emissions are being handled by the PCV valve and only going under the throttle body. Everything is going through the combustion process. This is why the PCV valve is one of the first suggestions.

Even with a perfectly functioning PCV valve, the content within its volume capability may still contain vapor that is heavily saturated with oil.

Some would put a catch can inline on the PCV hose. I like to adapt bigger and go longer to frustrate the migration. I also like to make it self draining upon shut down so that it's maintenance free and doesn't just move consumption to you emptying the can out.

Try one of the various piston soaks (Molasoak is one) if you so desire. I'd surely recommend Auto-Rx as one potential remedy.

Restore may reduce some of the symptoms. It's just not a product I would use. You report no lack of utility in this engine. Power is fine ..etc..etc.

Good luck!
