Anyone heard of a new design Firestone sparkplug touting 40% better gas mileage? I searched the web and the oil forum and couldn't find anything on it. I heard about this on the George Noury radio show on energy and oil saving.

Nope, never heard of Firestone sparkplug giving 40% better gas mileage (mile per mile, if swapped with an OE spark plug of similar age and condition).

Although I too, listen to George Noury radio but I find some of his stuff are too far-fetched to be true.

Most infomercials feed off of those meek-minded individuals like cars that haven't received tuneup for ages then throwing anything new into it will definitely gives/restores good fuel economy and much more. Try it on a well-maintained engine with good quality spark plugs (NGK for example) and I bet you will not see much differences except the new spark plugs will burn a bigger hole in your wallet.

Lastly: if these so-called "firestone" spark plugs claimed to be as good as they can be, why EPA or any major automobile manufacturers haven't look into this yet? Don't they also wanna raise their CAFE as well?

My 2c's worth.

George Noury?

Now there's a reliable source>

Spitfire maybe? Seems unlikely that they would be permitted to use the name of a major tire and rubber company. Then again, for a fly-by-night outfit, nothing is impossible, including an instant 40% MPG jump...

maybe firestone plugs are what are used on alien spaceships? one of the aliens is now sponsoring George N.? they do have to fly a very long way to they have to be as effecient as possible!

this would mean that the engineers that created the "Firestone" plugs have managed to out smart the other thousands of auto engineers who work for manufactures... If it were true car companies would be all over it.

As 'Tosh' suggested above, why would Firestone Tire put their name on a spark plug. I started thinking -what would you call a sparkplug that delivers lots of energy and sounds like Firestone? Answer- Firestorm Sparkplugs. They were invented by Robert Krupa and provide up to 44 to 50% more MPG. I could not find a source or a price for these plugs. I am curious how mush they cost.

Here is a link, you mite need boots. If a plug could give a 44% increase in mileage do you think it would make the mainstream news? I'm so happy you found it and shared with us such a wonderful product. Such a plug might be useful enough to have wide spread market appeal. Could it be that it reality it does not measure up to this claim? It's getting to the point where advertising is starting to mislead us just to sell more products. This must be a new trend in the market place. I can't believe that someone would invest in a marketing plan that does not represent the truth. Oh, the shame of it all. They must have forgotten to bring the facts with them when they went to the market place. Well, at least forgetting small details like that won't hurt their success. Who needs facts, anyhow? We need testimonials.

all a sparkplug does is ignite the flame front in the cylinder. it not a magicical piece of equipment. pretty much any sparkplug can do this as good as the next.

the only difference lies in how long the plugs last before they wear out.
