I am looking for an inexpensive headphone amp so that I can listen to TV with headphones while exercising.

I have a TOSlink cable to a converter that outputs to a 3.5mm plug, now it's not loud enough and needs an amplifier.

I've found four output amps that have 1/4" plugs for under $30. I can use this, but I'd rather have a one or two output and 3.5mm is preferred, but not required as adapters are easy.

Any suggestions?

How about an FM band "wireless transmitter" and a Walkman with an FM receiver. I have a little transmitter which will cover my entire house. Such devices are often sold to transmit audio from portable devices to car radios lacking a n input jack. One tunes it to an empty part of the band.

I have the E6 and it is amazing. You can use it as a pre-amp as well when powering smaller speakers from your iPod/Laptop and they will be loud.

Thanks for the suggestion. A very quick look says I'd probably spend more setting that up than just a headphone amp.

Speaking of cassette walkmans with an FM receiver, I cannot believe that you can still buy a cassette walkman.

I have an E6 that I use with my tablet or iPod for traveling, but I'd like to stay away from a battery and just go with plug in power.

Looks like this is about the cheapest I can go: Pyle Pro PHA40

I'd go with a single channel unless you have 3 other people who will be listening to music at the same time as you. More power 4 u

I bought the four channel. It seemed like the most cost effective option. At most my wife may listen too. The TV is in the basement below our daughters' room and we wouldn't want sound playing when they are asleep.
