I noticed it when I was in a parking garage. Started the car normally and put it into first and the headlights dimmed for a split second. I started paying attention to it and noticed it dims most going into first but less so after.

New battery. Alternator at 105k. New gatorback serpentine belt. Alternator problem? Bad ground? and which ground?

probably normal. the rpms might drop momentarily when you first put it into gear.

you dont tell us type of car, mileage

if its a MT

its normal if when you let the clutch out you dip below 1000rpm.

you could also have an alternator that has a higher "cut-in" speed than stock.

ie instead of starting to produce at 750rpm it needs 1100..

without knowing mileage/age on car, mileage/time on alternator, battery condition and age, and such

its basically guessing.

edit: you beat me .. so 2000 celica 6mt

not real familiar with those. Can you be more descriptive of the problem.
