1994 Plymouth Voyager 4 cylinder 2.5 Blowing white smoke and water from exhaust pipe, still runs good just runs out of coolant/Estimated repair cost is over $800.00. Do any of the additive head gasket sealers really work?Can't put that kind of money into it at this time. just need to but some time or maybe if they work fix it.Thanks.

I used one of the normal $5 stop leak type products to stop a coolant leak in the head gasket of my cavalier. in my case I drove it for another 60k miles - although mine was leaking to the outside of the engine - not into the cylinder.
I gonna copy part of a post that I commented on someone's else's tread..
Theres truly no such thing as a head gasket sealer. Most products are just overpriced sodium silicate. Its water glass/liquid class.
Google Steel Seal..thats all it is, just 3x's the price
You can buy it from a pharmacy, just great marketing.. So if you are serious about getting it, please just call your local pharmacy and order a pint of it..Roughly about 20$
It really only masks the problem and doesn't completely fix it..
But I have heard it has worked before..though the directions say you have to let your car idle for a half hour..eek...
If you put it into a different prospective..If it really did work, I don't think you would see all those head gasket replacements done...

There is a guaranteed liquid head gasket sealer -about $35-50 dollars. Directions have to be followed EXACTLY.

Blue Devil sealant is the only thing I have ever heard of being effective. That is all I would try.
Loosen the radiator cap and run it lower than normal.

Blue Devil will work, but you might be replacing the water pump afterwards.
