Have you found that people are easily manipulated?

Just an observation that people are generally really easily manipulated by others.

It's something I started noticing recently. It's almost as if you can predict what somebody's behavior will be in response to some very simple prompting actions.

Thoughts?

I just saw it again!

It's the ones who "think" they are manipulative, that are really the ones being manipulated - they really aren't very smart people at all. I see it all the time. Fun times ... trolls are all over this chat board and maybe someone has manipulated them to start threads like this.

It's called "Predictive Programming".

The power elite love the idea because it makes it easier to farm the herd effectively. Consumerism, submission, ect.

Of course there will always be plenty of us that are
IMPOSSIBLE to progam. Much to their dismay!

Well advertising is the biggest example. I mean how many people in this country live their life solely through what they learn on TV?

Many shows aimed at kids are designed to tie into something to sell whether through the ad break or as part of the show itself.

One can reject being programmed so much that one becomes effectively programmed in another way. It's a fine line!

Now that was a totally unexpected response! Why are you answering to so many of my threads anyway?

But seriously, you think consumers are manipulating advertisers?

Yes, especially when driving.

There was a thread on here some time ago about someone getting cut off in traffic by a Prius, and there were a lot of people who jumped on the "retaliation" bandwagon, not even realizing they were the ones being manipulated by the Prius driver.

If you ask them if they were being manipulated when they retaliate in traffic, I'm sure they'd be the first and loudest to deny it.

The truth always comes out in the end. Must be that paranoia kicking in again.

I wonder why do some people change their profiles all the time? Is it because they have been manipulated to feel like they need to? Hummm ...

Yes I remember that thread. There was all sorts of anger being revealed in the responses.

Retaliation is an interesting concept. In some respects you do succeed in your manipulation when you end up causing others to want to retaliate against you, but it can go too far eg when you end up being a victim of stalking. You've got to be careful if you're manipulating an inherently angry person.

Do you mind expanding on that or am I being manipulated here?

Don't forget that people often manipulate themselves. No external prompting required.

The self treating chiropractor for example.

Many folks seem to rely upon the popular media for their news and information.
They don't listen to NPR, they don't read a serious national newspaper, like the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, and they don't read any significant non-fiction.
You hear surpringly ignorant remarks from people of all walks of life.
The thread on the legal system was a good example of people expressing themselves about something of which they have no real knowledge, all based upon an anecdote posted to open the thread.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but an opinion uninformed with subject matter knowledge is silly at best and dangerous at worst.
You also see this in the posts of new members who freely recommend oils they have neither used nor even searched for data on.
People can be quite silly.
