When I think of full sized sedans,I think of 70s era Town Cars. Present day full sized sedans seem more like luxury sport coupes to me.
Have "true" full sized sedans died out?

I drive a Crown Vic because I FIT IN IT! Yes, it's that simple. I have short legs and a very long torso (I'm 5'10" with only a 30" inseam), and many new cars do not have enough headroom. (I was looking through the tint band on my mother's Sable.) I work with a guy that would have trouble driving your car, and another guy I suspect could't even RIDE in a Corolla, let alone drive one. Both have trucks...a Chevy K1500 and a diesel Ram, respectively.

When I was 300+ lbs, finding 44x30 pants was hard, now I can find 36x30, this being the factor for many cars, I have to fit in it, purposefully on test drives I will hit bumps to see if my noggin hits the ceiling. Having a big upper torso some cars (not class specific, ive sat comfortably in a Mini Cooper, and have hit the roof in a Malibu)

The better question is, has the true full sized sedan customer base died out?
20 years ago, nearly everyone in my family had a full-sized sedan... Roadmaster, DeVille, Parisienne, Crown Vic, Park Avenue, LeSabre.
Now, none of them own a full-sized sedan. It is now Town and Country, Escalade, Sierra, F-250, Taurus X...

I remember the '70 Buick Electra was a real big boat, it can easily sit 6 adults.

6'4", 34 inch leg and plenty of legroom and headroom in the Scirocco. To really 'need' something as big as the cars in this thread you'd have to weigh about 800 lbs!

ok, I'm 5'9", have an actual inseam of about 25.75 inches, and weigh a tad over 320lbs.(3XL Shirts, 50 inch waist, had a 40 inch waist freshman year of HS)
never had any problems with "fitting" in my Neon, it just got to be too darn low to get in and out of.
My Sable fits like a glove. higher seating position, plenty of head room(even with the seat cranked all they way up, i still have a hands width above me), that bodystyle (2005-07 Five Hundred/Montego ; 2008-09 Taurus/Sable)have one of the biggest Trunks ever put in a US production car, about 20cubic feet.
and even lead foots like me still get close to 30mpg on the Hwy.
but i do miss the small car dynamics...have to see how a Fiat 500 sits...maybe a smart....
