Have "true" full sized sedans died out?

While shopping for a car, I was pondering getting a full sized sedan. The "Full Sized" sedans of the past really aren't out there anymore. Seems like the crossover and SUV have taken their spot. 300, Genesis, They're about all that's left on the market that is truly full size
Some makers market their full sized sedans, yet they have just as much interior space as a compact or midsize (See Impala) or even more cramped than that! I am 6 ft 1, 230 lbs, and I can fit in some compacts (Darts, Fiats, Beetles, Golfs, and so on) yet I have a hard time fitting in some of the newer "Full Sized" cars


I dislike this notion automakers are going towards with SUVs and crossovers (FCA ending the life of the 200 and Dart to focus on the Journey and new Pacifica for example)
Being a single guy with no kids, a Crossover/SUV/minivan is just nonsense to own IMHO

I guess gone are the days of the space and trunk room of older cars like Crown Vics and the rest of that family (Mercury and Lincolns variants)


To me, the 300 and Genesis are probably the last true faithful fullsize sedan, both being pretty much the standard in that class anymore.

According to EPA there are many vehicles are classified as large, with 120 cf or more passenger + cargo volume.

There are some pretty large Buicks out there still. Don't know why you wouldn't consider them full size. Don't confuse interior space with the lack of acreage of trunk and hood length.

I am talking from experiences in my age group, I still prefer domestics though unlike most 90s kids. I am almost 24, Looking at a Buick wasn't really in my head.

Honda Accord is a pretty big car, and made in the USA. You can get big discounts on new ones.

There's lots of cars on that list, most of them are luxury cars though, BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lincoln, Cadillac etc. No Buick on there. The Ford Taurus is also on there but I guess it's probably a little bit smaller than the old Crown Vic.

Get yourself a Dodge Megacab. Doesn't look like a family wagon HUGE inside and more trunk space than any full size sedan of past. Just hard cover the back.

I'm 6ft6 and over 300lbs and my corolla is big enough for me to fit. I've driven that impala and it has tons of space. If you are single why do you need a crown Vic? I'd much rather an impala over a Vic...newer = more efficient use of space. Those cars are gone because they were heavy and drank more fuel...

Never said I wanted a Crown Victoria, I am saying that there is really very little
Options for a full size sedan now compared to 10-15 years ago. It's mainly crossovers and SUVs

It's like trucks of today compared to even 10 years ago.
A modern day "Small Truck" like a Tacoma or a Colorado would of been considered full size 10-15 years ago.

There are still some, newer full size models like the Impala, but many are old platforms now, like the Taurus, and 300 models.

Also true that so many former small and compact vehicles have become huge... unnecessarily so.

Some of the mid size suvs get great mileage and have more room. Check out the Mitsubishi Outlander. In a 2wd can get over 30mpg better than my Grand Marquis.
