I've long considered 4 door trucks to be today's station wagon. Compared to today's mid sized sedan they might lose on interior space; but compared to yesteryear's wagons I think they might be close.
My truck has a front bench, it was one of my "requirements" when shopping. It's been used a couple of times to seat six too. When the wife is in the truck she prefers to have console down (mid seat up front folds down) but when it's just me I prefer it up. Makes it feel a bit more... airy.
