I felt that way as well for many years because about 25 years ago I cut open many a filter brand (for my Toyota) and found the Fram filter to be junk. They has wimpy cardboard end-caps and a string (yes a string) tied around the middle to help keep it together!
But, many, many things have changed in all those years, including the build quality of the modern Fram filter (especially the TG and XG models). Thankfully, BITOG has helped me to see what the modern Fram (and other brands) filter is like and I am impressed.
