It's been a while since I last took my Mercury out, and decided I would go out for an all highway drive this evening. I don't drive this car often as it's my project car, and when I do, I take it out at times when I know there will be no traffic.
Checked all the fluids, etc. and went out for a drive. Decided to stop by Texas Roadhouse for a bite to eat and when I was done, I noticed something didn't look right about the passenger side of my front bumper. Turns out it's a hit and run.
Long story short, previous owner was a cheapskate and had the bumper cover painted at some cheap shop who used bondo on it. I had the bumper cover painted to cover stone chips and the shop I used didn't prep the bumper cover properly, so the paint was peeling off like an eggshell. I wasn't exactly sure whether I was mad at the shop considering I paid well over market value for quality work, or at the bozo who bashed into my car and drove off.
When I came home, I noticed bits of paint chips on the ground where the front bumper would cover. Turns out someone hit my car right in front of my house.
Going to put the cover on it for now, and get a new bumper cover with no bondo on it and look for a professional shop to paint it. Maybe I'll get the dealer to do it since they did a fantastic job on my Explorer.
